The Daniel Carter Beard house holds another distinction of great historical interest, but is little known. The house was purchased by Alexander and Frances Ann Denny Drake in 1826. Both were renowned actors of the time, Mrs. Drake being the leading tragedian actress in America by the late 1820's. Alex occupied the house with his wife until his sudden death on stage at the Columbia Street theatre in Cincinnati in 1830. Mrs Drake, when not performing in the East, continued to live in the house. In 1840, she married celebrated poet George Washington Cutter. The Cutters settled into the house, but the marriage only lasted a few months. It's quite a remarkable untold story that some may find interesting if revived!
